Dear Sir,

I am instructed by Mr J.G.M. (sic) Stevens to request the payment of certain moneys due him by you for which if paid at once he will accept £54.17.6 and interest at 10% since October last in full settlement and in default of such payment I am to take proceedings.

Reply sent 16.1.91

I have to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 14th inst demanding £54.17.6 on behalf of Mr G.J.M. Stevens. I can only make the same reply to you as I have made to Mr Stevens namely that when I receive a full and detailed report of his proceedings whilst in the employ of the police I will pay him what is due.

I wired your office herein of yesterday to my client he instructs me that he will not accept the £50 unless the costs and expenses to which he has been paid by £?.11.8 are also paid by the Commr. of Police.

If the Commissioner consents to this, the appointment referred to in yours of yesterday will be handed him.
